Description
Deep in the south of Sri Lanka, in a quiet little village named Dodanduwa, where life is still steeped in culture and tradition, there lies a charming little bungalow ready to welcome visitors for short stays. Originally a coconut plantation house which dates back to over 130 years. Once bought over by its current owners, the Anverally family, the garden was landscaped while the house itself has been renovated, without losing its Colonial “Walauva” appearance. The rustic charm of the interior of the house offers a cozy, comfortable stay for visitors.
Built upon a 2 acre area on the banks of the ‘Ratgama’ black water lake, this amazing little private holiday home sits snuggled in the shade of a forest of 30 different types of towering trees, most of which are endemic to Sri Lanka. Some are said to be over a hundred years old, which is no surprise given the history of the bungalow. A small cultivation on the land provides fresh, organic fruit and vegetables to the bungalow to be prepared for its owners and guests. Apart from this the land thrives with an abundance of plants and trees which are well known to Sri Lanka. The bungalow is located in a strategic area where the river meets the sea making the water brackish and teeming with prawns, crabs and a variety of salt water marine life. The area is famous for some of the best fishing in Sri Lanka.
